A gateway is a vro in a network and acts as an access point to access other networks. When the IP address does not match the IP address in the route table, the default gateway is used.

Use netstat-R or route-N in Linux to view the default gateway.

A gateway is a router on a TCP/IP network that serves as an access point to another network. A default gateway is the router on the network that the network software uses when an IP address does not match any other routes in the routing table.
