When EditText gets the focus, the input method flashes and then disappears. edittext focus
Scenario

When you click the search button, EditText is displayed and the List below is collapsed. In this case, EditText gets the focus, but the input method disappears after a flash.

Solution

Add:

Android: windowSoftInputMode = "adjustPan"

You can also modify the input mode in the activity (for details about the input mode and other pitfalls of the keyboard panel, see the link ):

GetWindow (). setSoftInputMode (WindowManager. LayoutParams. SOFT_INPUT_ADJUST_PAN );

Then modify EditText:

MEditSearch. requestFocus (); InputMethodManager inputMethodManager = (InputMethodManager) context. getSystemService (Context. INPUT_METHOD_SERVICE); inputMethodManager. showSoftInput (mEditSearch, InputMethodManager. manual );

Perfect solution!
