If you have never used a printer before, and now want to implement a shared printer through a print server, you need to follow these steps to add a printer port and install the printer driver.
1. Select Start - Control Panel and select view device and printer .
2. Click Add Printer .
3. Select add Local printer .
4. Choose to create a new port , the port type select Standard TCP/IP port and then select Next .
5. Enter the IP address of the print server, click Next , the Windows system will automatically create the appropriate port.
6. After the successful port creation, the next interface of the device type select custom and click the Settings button, in the pop-up page select LPR protocol , add the queue name for LP1 and check enabled LPR byte count, click After you have determined the button, continue to select next .
7. The system will then prompt you to install the printer driver, if your printer model is in the System integrated driver list, you can select the appropriate model and click Next to install it, if you cannot find your printer model, choose to install it from disk, and then install the printer driver by using a CD-ROM or other storage device. When you are finished, continue clicking Next .
Once the steps are complete, you can use the print server to enjoy the shared print.
