To add functionality to Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, your computer must be running a copy of Windows that is activated.

What happens when you add a feature?

When you add functionality to Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, you can get more versions of Windows than the current version. Your application, files, and settings will not change.

How do I add features?

Depending on the version of Windows you are running, you can use the add features to Windows 8.1 or add features to Windows 8 to get more versions of Windows than the current version features.

First, you need to purchase a product key. You can use "Add features to Windows 8.1" or "Add features to Windows 8" to purchase a new product key online, but you need to use it on the computer used to purchase the key. The product key will only be associated with the computer and cannot be used on other computers. A product key can be purchased at a local retail store. Make sure that you purchase a product key that is specific to add functionality to Windows 8.1 or add functionality to Windows 8 in the application store-can be purchased as a Pro pack or Media Center pack.

Only features can be added to the following objects: Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 Professional, Windows 8.1 KN and Windows 8.1 N, or Windows 8, Windows 8 Professional, Windows 8 KN, and Windows 8 N.

If you add functionality to Windows 8.1 or add features to Windows 8 that are not available on your computer, you will not be able to install the Pro pack or Media Center pack.

Steps to install Features

Swipe from the right edge of the screen to the middle and click "Search". (If you use the mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, and then move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)

Enter add feature in the search box, and then click or click Add Features to Windows 8.1 or add features to Windows 8.

Do one of the following:

If you have purchased a key, click or click "I already have a product key" and enter it, then click or click Next. If the product key is not valid, please contact the support person.

If you have not purchased a key and it is available online in your country or region, you can buy it now by clicking or clicking "I want to buy a product key online". If it is not available online, you need to go to a local retailer.

Read the license Terms, select the check box that accepts the license terms, and then click or click Add Features.

What if you can't install the purchased Feature Pack?

If you cannot install the purchased Feature Pack, please contact the support staff.

What features can I use?

There are two different feature packs that apply to Windows 8.1 or Windows 8:

The Windows 8.1 Professional package and the Windows 8 Professional package have enhanced network and data encryption capabilities (and include Windows Media Center), but you will need to have Windows 8.1 or Windows 8 installed and activated on your computer.

Windows 8.1Media Center Pack and Windows 8Media Center Pack provide Windows Media Center, but you will need to have installed and activated the Windows 8.1 Professional or Windows 8 Professional Edition.

How much does it cost to add functionality?

You will see price information for each option in the "Add features to Windows 8.1" or "Add features to Windows 8". You can also check the price and purchase the product key at your local retail store.

How do I buy a product key for adding functionality?

In some countries and regions, you can purchase product keys online using either add features to Windows 8.1 or add features to Windows 8.

In most areas, a product key can also be purchased at a local retail store. Make sure to purchase a product key that is specific to adding features to Windows 8.1 or to adding features to Windows 8.

Can I add functionality to my single language version of Windows?

Is. If you purchased a Windows 8.1 Professional package or a Windows 8 professional package, you should be able to install it and successfully activate Windows.

Can I upgrade earlier versions of Windows by adding features?

No, you cannot upgrade an earlier version of Windows to Windows 8.1 or Windows 8. If you already have Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, and you want to get more different versions of features, you can only use the add features to Windows 8.1 or add features to Windows 8.

Can I add features to 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows?

Yes, you can add functionality to 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. But if you currently have a 32-bit version of Windows, you cannot use the Add features to Windows 8.1 or add features to Windows 8 to get a 64-bit version. If you have a 64-bit version, you cannot get the 32-bit version.

Can I add features to multiple computers?

Yes, but you need to buy a product key for each computer you want to add a feature to.

Can I restore the version of Windows that my computer runs before adding features?

What happened to the Windows anytime Upgrade?
