Windows Azure Hdinsight is a PAAs service for big data and is a PAAs version of Hadoop. Hdinsight is the product of Microsoft's collaboration with Hortonworks. Can be understood as Hortonworks for a release of Windows Azure.

The international version of Hdinsight supports Windows and Linux instances, while the Chinese version currently supports only Windows instances, that is, the Chinese version of Hdinsight is running on the Windows Server operating system.

1. Virtual network support

Hdinsight is a virtual network-enabled user who can create a hdinsight cluster in a virtual network that already exists. This allows users to access the Hdinsight cluster using an intranet address on the Windows Azure virtual machine. In the second step of the Hdinsight Cluster Creation Wizard, you can select an existing virtual network by tapping the regional and virtual network drop-down box.

2. Remote login (RDP) hdinsight head node and hive metadata store. The user can turn on the remote login (RDP) feature of the head node during the creation of the Hdinsight cluster. For security purposes, remote login users and HTTP users (Web console users) need to set different usernames and require strong passwords. Remote login also needs to set the validity period. But don't worry, this expiration date can be modified through the admin interface, and users can choose to save hive and Oozie metadata in SQL Database (SQL Azure) so that the metadata is not lost even if the user deletes and rebuilds the cluster.

3. Execute the custom script. By default, the administrator user on all nodes is disabled. The user for remote login is also just a normal windows local user, not in the Administrator group, and cannot perform such operations as software installation and setup that require administrator privileges. For advanced users with custom requirements, Hdinsight provides a very thoughtful custom script action execution function--execute user-defined scripts with administrator privileges before the end of cluster provisioning.

    • Write user-defined scripts in PowerShell and save them as [. PS1] Files.
    • Upload the [. ps1] File to the Windows Azure blob storage with public access on the container.
    • In the final step of the Hdinsight Cluster Creation wizard, reference the [. PS1] File on the BLOB storage and specify parameters for it (if the [. PS1] File requires parameters).

Attach a sample script that closes the Windows Firewall for the Hdinsight instance and creates a new user with administrator privileges.
