Windows cannot install to this disk selected disk has MBR partition table workaround

This prompt appears when you install WIN10: Windows cannot install to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On an EFI system, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. This occurs primarily because the USB flash drive is started by default with the EFI boot instead of the common MBR boot, so this behavior occurs. This is often the case in the original installation of 32-bit systems, and now a 64-bit system to change the process.

The selected disk has an MBR partition table workaround

Solution One: After the problem occurs, directly unplug the USB stick to other computers, the flash drive in the EFI folder and Bootmgr.efi file deleted, the problem is done, and then, then use the disk to install the USB drive system, there will be no such problems. The reason to delete these two folders and files is because the installation from the USB stick will be started by default with EFI boot, and when it is deleted, it is started with MBR by default.

In addition, I used to burn the CD-ROM win8, to a friend installation, but also the same problem, but the problem is that my disc is a read and write, can not be like a USB stick in the two folders deleted, so for the CD I do not know how to do. But, oddly enough, my own computer was also installed with a USB stick.

Windows 8 Pro, without the above problem, I personally think because my computer is older (bought at the end of 09), does not support the cause of EFI boot. What is EFI? This is a very important technology, the rule of the computer more than 20 years of BIOS boot technology will be replaced by EFI, at that time, in the BIOS setup interface (should be strictly the EFI interface) can use the mouse, can be Chinese, no longer obscure English, is no longer only use the keyboard to exercise Have done.

Workaround two: Non-preloaded win10 models factory, the hard disk default to MBR partitioned table format, and UEFI mode only support the GPT partition table to install the system on the hard disk.

If the system installation CD contains UEFI information, the boot may automatically load and enter UEFI mode, so the "Windows cannot be installed to this disk, the selected disk has an MBR partition table, on the EFI system, Windows can only be installed to the GFT disk" Shown

We recommend that you try the following methods:

The Power on press ESC, will display two CD-ROM or USB drive options, select the CD-ROM name before the option to boot without UEFI, you can normally install the system on the MBR partition table hard disk.

Solution Three: Enter the motherboard to select the start of the project, such as F8, F11 and so on, U disk startup has 2 items, one is EFI boot, one is normal boot, install 64-bit system, choose EFI boot, will be wrong, should choose normal boot. If the CD is installed, enter the BIOS to see if EFI enters the BIOS to see the UEFI state, enabled if it is on, then disable it to see (change to Disabled), save the reboot, select the CD drive to boot. However, you cannot select the drive mode for UEFI.

Workaround four: Use the WINDOWS8 partition tool to re-partition the installation. Or use the latest version of Diskgenius to build the GPT partition. Tip, please copy the hard drive data before using this method to avoid loss.

Workaround five: If Windows fails to install during the system installation process, the selected disk has an MBR partition table, this time you can use the Enable Diskpart command, by doing this:

Press and hold the SHIFT+F10 shortcut key to open a command prompt (that is, the Cmd.exe program), and then, in turn, enter:

1. Enter diskpart and press ENTER;

2. Enter the list disk and press ENTER;

3. Enter select disk C; ("C" here is the one that will install the Win7 system, if you want to install the Win7 system on the D drive, enter select Disk D, which is how to write the other disks.) )

4. Enter clean, and enter to clear the current disk partition;

5. Enter convert MBR, and the carriage return will represent that the MBR partition has been converted. As solution:

Use the shortcut "SHIFT+F12" to enable the Diskpart command to enter DOS

Use the list disk command to list all physical disks on the current computer, locate the disks that need to be re-partitioned, confirm the disk, and clear the contents of the operating system disk that you currently need to install

Make the final disk rebuild primary partition and logical partition (the primary partition must be established to install the operating system)

Use "Create partition primarysize=30720". Where create partition represents the creation of the partition. Primary indicates that the creation is the primary partition. If this location is logical: Represents a logical partition, extended: Represents an extended partition. (Size: Indicates partition size, unit M)

Activate the already established partition so that you rerun the installation of the operating system, there will be no symptoms of the hint, try it.
