Create a virtual machine template locally and upload it to Azure (1)

OK, in the previous chapter, I've introduced how to customize the Azure Virtual machine template.

The existing Azure virtual machine virtual machine templates are in English, what if I want to create a virtual machine that belongs to the Chinese version of server 2012?

In fact, Windows Azure allows users to produce a VHD that has an operating system locally, and then uploads the VHD to the cloud and hosts it in the Azure Cloud data center.

Before I begin this chapter, let me first state that the limitations of the VHD supported by Windows Azure are as follows:

1. Currently only VHD is supported, VHDX is not supported

2. Only fixed-size VHD is supported

3.VHD size must be less than 127G

In general, uploading a local VHD to Azure goes through the following procedures

1. Create a VHD and install the appropriate operating system and software

2. Create the corresponding container in azure storage

3. Use azure Powershell to upload the local VHD to Azure Storage

4. Use the azure Portal to create Azure Virtual Machine using the uploaded VHD template

This chapter will focus on how to install a VHD with the Chinese version of Windows Server 2012 operating system through Hyper-V manager.

Please prepare to:

1. The local operating system is Server 2008 R2, Server 2012, or Windows 8, and the Hyper-V feature is turned on

2. The ISO file installed must be a version of Windows Server and the author uses the Chinese version of Windows Server 2012. The client version, such as Windows 8, is not supported.
