In public computer scenarios, how can we hide a drive to prevent others from installing software or deleting files on your computer?
I. configuration method
1. There is a disk management function in Windows 2000/XP. We can choose Control Panel> performance and maintenance> Management Tools> Computer Management ", in the list on the left of the "Computer Management" window, select "disk management" under "Storage". In the window on the right, all disk partitions and usage on the local machine are listed.
2. Right-click the name of the drive to be hidden, select "Change drive name and path" from the shortcut menu, and click "delete" in the pop-up window, in the displayed dialog box, select "yes.
3. Go to "my computer" and you will find that the disk has disappeared.
4. If you want to restore the hidden drive, right-click the hidden drive here (although the drive is invisible elsewhere, but you can also see it in "Computer Management", but it should be a gray block where the drive letter is), select "Change drive name and path ", then, in the "change" dialog box that appears, click the "add" button and select the disk Number of the drive from the "Assign the following drive letter" drop-down list.
5. Although the above method achieves the purpose of hiding the drive, we also need to perform Step 4 every time we want to access the drive, therefore, you can map a directory to the drive using the following method.
After the drive is deleted, right-click the drive that has been deleted, select "Change drive name and path", and click "add ", in the "add drive letter and path" window, click "mount the following blank NTFS folder", click "Browse", select a blank folder, and click "OK ".
Note that the selected folder must be a blank folder created on the NTFS file system, and it is best not to place the selected folder in an obvious position. In the future, you can open the folder to access the hidden drive. For those who are not clear about it, they cannot access the drive.
Ii. modify registry
Hide the drive letter, open registry editor, and open the following key values (if not, create a new drive)
HKEY_CURRENT_USERsoftwarewindowscurrentVersionPolicesExplorerNoDrives
Set the value to (hexadecimal) as follows:
Do not hide any disk 00000000
Hide disk A 01000000
Hide disk B 02000000
Hide C drive 04000000
Hide drive D 08000000
Hide edisk 10000000
Hide fdisk 20000000
Hide G disk 40000000
Hide H disk 80000000
Hide disk I 00010000
Hide J disk 00020000
Hide K disk 00040000
Hide L disk 00080000
.......
And so on
Hide the Z drive 00000002
Hide all drive FFFFFFFF
3. Use software such as master optimization or rabbit magic settings
This method is very simple. You can easily deal with it as long as you use the software. I will not go into details here.
