The bootstrap protocol (BOOTP) is a protocol based on the IP/UDP protocol that allows a diskless station to obtain an IP address from a central server, assigning a dynamic IP address to a diskless workstation in a LAN, and not requiring each user to set a static IP address. When using the BOOTP protocol, typically includes Bootstrap Protocol Server (Bootstrap protocol service side) and Bootstrap Protocol Client (Bootstrap Protocol Client) Two parts.
First, the client is started by the BOOTP startup code, and this time the client does not have an IP address and uses the broadcast form to send IP address query requests to the network using the IP address 255.255.255.255. The server running the BOOTP protocol then receives the request, finds the client based on the MAC address provided in the request, and sends a found frame with information such as IP address, server IP address, gateway, and so on. Finally, the client is downloaded from the dedicated TFTP server based on the found frame.Boot MirrorFiles, which are emulated as disk boot.
