User Configuration > Distribution: When a software is distributed to a user, the next time the user logs on to any computer, the deployed software appears in the Add and Remove Programs dialog box of the user's computer for the user to download the installation.

User Configuration > Assignment: Allocation is mandatory for the software deployment method. When the software is assigned to a user, the software is automatically installed whenever the user logs on to any computer, and you can see a shortcut to the software on the Start menu or on the desktop.

Computer Configuration, you can also choose to assign and distribute, and when the software is assigned to a computer, the computer automatically downloads and installs the software the next time it is started.

2. Assigning and distributing software on Windows server2008 1) environment

(1) Two virtual machines: Virtual machine 1 is Windows server2008 (domain controller), virtual machine 2 is windows7.

2) Process record

(1) Create a shared directory on the domain controller share, put the software to be pushed here, I downloaded a python2.7, it is the MSI format, eliminating the steps of encapsulation. This is because the Windows system distribution software supports only the MSI format, and the EXE format we normally use must be encapsulated in MSI format by some software so that it can be used.

(2) Click "Start" > "Administrative Tools" > "Group Policy Management", select Finance Department, right click on "Create a GPO in this field and link here", in the Popup interface is named, here is "install software".

(3) Select Install software, right-click to select Edit to open the Group Policy Management Editor window, where you can select a computer configuration or a user configuration. I selected User Configuration > Policies > Software Settings > Software installation.

(4) Select "Software Installation", right click to select "Properties", Software Installation Properties Select the path of our shared folder, the rest of the configuration is selected according to the requirements.

(5) Select "Software Installation", right-click to select "New" > "Package" and select the path of the packet.

(6) We have completed the software distribution.

Note: (1) after packaging EXE software as MSI format, you can test the MSI format software is available first.

(2) Shared folder property settings, sharing and security permissions need to be set according to requirements, in order to facilitate testing, I set here is everyone has Read permissions.

3) Testing

Log on to another virtual machine win7, log in using the domain user "caiwu001" we created, and in the Start menu you can see that python2.7 is already installed.
