There are two possible situations where the desktop cannot be displayed.
1, system failure or virus caused Explorer.exe unable to load boot.
2, registry failure caused by default value is not explorer.exe. (some software may have been installed to cause this problem)
3, a boot start item issue.
Fault resolution:
such as 1, 3 the problem is better resolved, you should use CTRL+SHIFT+ESC or Ctrl+alt+del call out Task Manager directly run Explorer.exe can, and then start to run Msconfig check the program or service that may cause a failure.
You can also try to press F8 during power on to resolve this issue in safe mode. In general, they can be solved quickly.
However, there is a possibility that the 2nd case, the registry key failure, must be changed back to the correct key value to resolve the problem.
Workaround:
Click "Start" – "Run" to enter "Regedit.msc" to open the Registry Editor.
Expand:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Nt\currentversion\winlogon\shell
To see if it is explorer.exe, instead of changing the value to Explorer.exe.
Windows Troubleshooter does not display the desktop.
