Windows XP installation disk creation tutorial (with image)

Nlite is a Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 installation disc transformation tool suitable for cainiao users. It is compiled by nuhi, A msfn member, in addition to integrating the SP package, Hotfix program, and device driver into the installation file, you can also delete unnecessary drivers and system components to complete unattended installation settings, xplite has more outstanding features than xplite.

　　I. Software Installation and Localization

First, we need to install nlite to the system. Because the software requires. NET Framework support, if you have not installed it, please
Bytes.

Decompress the downloaded Chinese patch and find the Simplified Chinese language file simpchinese. lang, copy it to the/lang directory of the nlite installation folder, and then run the program. When you see the interface shown in figure 1, select "simpchinese" or "simplified Chinese" in the "language" drop-down list box to switch to the simplified Chinese interface that we are familiar.

　　2. Preparations

Next, we should make some preparations:

1. windows XP installation file: Find a partition with a large available space on the hard disk and create a temporary folder, such as D:/WINXP, copy all files on the Windows XP installation CD to this folder.
2. Windows XP SP2: Download the sp2 Installation File. Do not run it directly or decompress it.
3. driver: Prepare the device driver that needs to be integrated into the Installation File in advance. You can copy the driver from the drive disc or download it from the vendor's website. If it is a zip package, release it to a temporary folder, but it must contain the INF file.

Example 1: Integrate the sp2 patch package into the Installation File

 

Click the Browse button to go to the D:/WINXP folder. nlite scans the folder instantly, as shown in 3, after scanning, information about the operating system version, file size, and remaining space installed on the local machine is displayed in the "information" column.

Next, select the downloaded SP2 Installation File: the trouble of integrating the ghost command.

After returning to the main interface, you can see that the Windows XP version has been upgraded to Windows XP Professional SP2-build 2180 (623 MB ). Follow the same steps to integrate the hotfix program.

Example 2: Integrate the device driver into the Installation File

Although Windows XP is incomparable in terms of hardware recognition, drivers, such as video cards, USB connection devices, and sound cards, need to be installed many times, we can integrate the drivers of these devices into the Installation File in advance, so that the driver will be automatically installed after Windows XP installation, saving the trouble of manual installation.

Download the driver to be integrated in advance, as shown in figure 6. Click "insert" to find the INF file of the driver. If you need to integrate multiple drivers, click the "insert" button, but when integrating the driver, pay attention to the normal installation order. Otherwise, it may cause unnecessary trouble to install the system in the future.

Example 3: Remove unnecessary components from the Installation File

 

In fact, we don't need many components in Windows XP. Why don't we remove them from the system? It is better to clear the files before they are installed.

Go to the figure 7 window and select the corresponding system components. After you select an item, the corresponding description is displayed in the right pane. The selected components will be removed from the installation folder, if an item is displayed in gray, it indicates it is a key service of the system. We recommend that you do not remove it easily. Below, I will briefly introduce the system components that can be migrated:

Application: Remove unnecessary auxiliary options, NT backup, 3D fl, and other programs here.

Driver: if you are not using a laptop, you can remove drivers from battery, Bluetooth support, FireWire (1394), IBM ThinkPad, infrared, scsicard, wireless network, and other devices.

Internet tools: You can choose to remove components such as FrontPage extensions, IIS (Internet Information Services), Internet pringing, Windows Messenger, and network monitor.

Language Support: in general, we only need to retain a limited number of items such as Chinese Simplified, Chinese traditional, Japanese, and input method editor.

Multimedia: Media Center and tablet PC can be removed here. After all, few users in China can actually use the media center and tablet PC, you can also remove projects such as music examples, vintage CD players, recorders, and Roland sound canvas sample sets.

Operating System Options: Here, you can choose to remove few projects, such as Administrator VB script, Dr Watson, Ms agent, and roaming. If you do not like the built-in compression support of Windows XP, you can remove the ZIP folder.

Services: Except for gray projects, other services can be removed if you do not need them.

Directory: There are three folders: valueadd, support, and docs. You can choose to remove them.

If you are unsure, you can directly use the system Recommendation settings, as long as you select "recommended" in the drop-down list box at the bottom of the window mode. In addition, we can also set the option for unattended installation. However, if you have Raid/SATA devices, do not use them.

Example 4: make the installation process more personalized

Through some settings and adjustments, we can make the installation process of Windows XP more personalized, for example, you can use the classic installation interface, disable SFC, enable unauthenticated themes, remove duplicate files, retain the keyboard layout of the removed language, and play the installed music, you can also set the maximum number of concurrent connections that have not been completed.

After the preceding settings are complete, nlite will ask whether to apply the changes. After confirmation, the screen shown in Figure 8 will be displayed. What needs to be done next is to wait patiently, since the transformation operation requires a certain amount of system resources, it is better to close other running applications in advance. After the transformation, you can create an ISO image file and burn the CD after the test is successful.
