1.  License ServerPlanning

The licensing of Citrix products is not the same as other vendors ' products, such as most Microsoft products can be activated directly online using key, of course, such as Windows and Office can be found by KMS every 180 days to find a KMS server automatically activated. While Citrix Product activation requires the deployment of a License server server, a technical perspective License server is supported on the same server as the DDC or other roles, but Citrix is not permanently activated as a Microsoft product via key online, in Citrix Products such as Xencenter or xendesktop are required to verify License Server license. So in a large enterprise environment we not only need to deploy license server separately but also to ensure high availability of license server, which can be used with xencenter ha functionality.

1.1 Citrix Licensing System requirements

Note: Although license server is supported for installation on Windows client systems, it is not possible to use the clustering feature on Windows Server to ensure the stability of license server, and of course we can still use xencenter ha technology.

1.2 Setting up a license server on a Microsoft cluster

Clustered servers are groups of computers that are grouped together to improve availability, reliability, and scalability. Microsoft clustering features exist in:

• Windows Server 2008

• Windows Server R2

• Windows Server 2012

• Windows Server R2

1.3 The license server configuration for this test environment is as follows:

Host Name: CTXLIC01

IP Address: 192.168.1.14

Account Name: Huangjh.com\ctxadmin

2   License ServerDeployment

2.1 Configure the IP address, modify the computer name, and join the domain

2.2 Add the account huangjh\ctxadmin to the LicenseServer local Administrators group as follows:

2.3 Insert the Xenapp_and_xendesktop7_6 disc and run the installer and click "Start"

2.4 Click "Citrix License Server"

2.5 Select "I have read, understood, and accept the terms of the License Agreement" and click "Next"

2.7 Select "Automatic" à " Next "

2.8 after checking the installation summary information, click "Install"

2.9 after waiting for the installation to succeed, click "Finish"

2.10 access via IE browser http://192.168.1.14:8082 Open the Citrix License Management Console

2.11 In the top right corner, click the Manage button à Enter the account and password used to install LicenseServer à Click "Submit"
