Recently to do an ASP things, think about learning more new technology. The most impulsive thing is to use XML and scripting languages such as Python,ruby.

XML provides data, the biggest benefit is cross-platform, if using TXT file as the data, then in the small amount of data when the speed is very fast, the data volume when the speed is rapid decline. Using a database to provide data is the best speed, but portability and cross-platform are not the best, and most importantly, a significant increase in costs (commercially unavailable). The requirements for hardware are also improved.

If the space does not support the database, then you have to use XML.

Compared to TXT file, XML increases the structure and is more convenient to operate.

Our database is sql-server, and it does not seem necessary to use XML.

　　About Python and Ruby:

Listen to a lot of people talk about how concise, convenient. After checking, I feel that there are still few people using Ruby in China, especially the Windows user, Python is a little bit more. Installing the Python environment, copying several programs, and experimenting with embedding Python scripts in ASP, may be due to the lack of a real core and no sense of the advantages compared to VBScript. And if used in a project, you must also have the Python environment installed on the client's server, and there is no good reason to convince the leader to adopt the technology.
