XP LAN settings and inaccessible solutions

First, the physical joins and other issues are not considered here, and only the policy issues are mentioned. In addition, install the appropriate protocol and set the IP address correctly, while setting the computer in a workgroup with the same IP address as the same network segment.

Second, the network for the problem described more, here no longer tired. Consider the following steps when there is a problem with sharing and access:

1. Check whether the Guest account is open

XP does not open the Guest account by default, so please enable the Guest account for other people to browse your computer. Also, for security, set the password or appropriate permissions for the guest. Of course, you can also set a user name and password for each machine to access each other's computers.

2. Check whether the guest user is denied access to this computer from the network

When you open the Guest account but still cannot access it at all, check to see if the settings are denying guest access to the computer from the network because XP does not allow guest to log on from the network by default, so it is not accessible even if guest is open. When the system guest user is enabled to remove the restrictions on the Guest account, click "Start → run" and enter "GPEDIT" in the "Run" dialog box. MSC, open Group Policy Editor, select Computer Configuration →windows settings → security settings → local policies → user rights Assignment, double-click the "Deny access to this computer from the network" policy, and delete the "GUEST" account. This allows other users to access the computer using the Windows XP system over the network using the Guest account.

3. Change network access mode

XP defaults to treating all users who log on from the network on the guest account, so even if an administrator logs on from the network and only has guest privileges, try changing the network access mode if you encounter an inaccessible condition. Open Group Policy Editor, select Computer Configuration →windows settings → security → Local policies → security options, double-click the "Network access: Sharing and security mode for local accounts" policy, and change the default to "guest only-local users authenticate as guest" to " Classic: Local users authenticate as themselves.

So even if you do not open the guest, you can enter the local account and password to login to the computer you want to visit, the local account and password for the computer you want to access the account and password. If you need an account and password to access the network, you can log in by typing in the account and password already in the computer you want to access.

If you do not make changes to the access mode, you may not even enter the user name and password,//computername/guest is not available in gray. Even if the password is empty, you may not be able to click on the login without opening the guest. Change to Classic mode, at least as much as 2000 without opening the Guest account, you can enter the user name and password to log into the computer you want to enter. Perhaps you will also encounter a special situation, please see the next.

4. A noteworthy issue

We may also encounter another problem, that is, when the user's password is empty, even if you do all of the above changes are still unable to log in, Access will still be denied. This is because there is an account in the system security options: Local accounts with blank passwords only allow console logon policy is enabled by default, and users who have blank passwords are prohibited from accessing a computer that uses Windows XP over the network, based on the principle of denial of priority in Windows XP security policy. We can solve the problem by simply deactivating this policy. In the security option, locate the "Local account with blank password only allow console login" Item, disable it, or even open guest and change to Classic mode still can not log in. After the above changes are basically accessible, you can try to choose a method that is right for you. Here are some additional questions that may be encountered.

5. Network neighbors cannot see the computer

You may not always see the computer you want to visit in your network Neighborhood unless you know the name or IP address of your computer, either by searching or directly entering//computername or//IP. Use the following action to resolve: Start the Computer Browser service. The Computer Browser service maintains a list of computer updates on the network and provides this list to the computer specified as a browser. If this service is stopped, the list is neither updated nor maintained.

137/udp--netbios name server, network basic input/output system (NetBIOS) name Server (NBNS) protocol is part of the NetBIOS (NetBT) protocol family on TCP/IP. It provides host name and address mapping methods on a network that is based on NetBIOS name access.

138/udp--netbios datagram, a NetBIOS datagram is part of the NetBIOS (NetBT) protocol family on TCP/IP for network logons and browsing.

139/tcp--netbios session Service, a NetBIOS session service that is part of the NetBIOS (NetBT) protocol family on TCP/IP for Server Message block (SMB), file sharing, and printing. Please set the firewall to open the appropriate port. It is generally possible to allow folder and Printer sharing services on the firewall only.

6. About shared mode

Only give guest permissions to shared XP by default or choose to allow users to change my files. Users in the Windows 2000 operating system are very handy when setting shared properties for a folder, and you can see the Shared Settings tab by simply right-clicking the folder and selecting Properties. When you set up folder sharing on Windows XP systems, you are more complex, and users cannot see the Shared Settings tab through the above actions. The specific modification methods are as follows: Open the tools in My Computer, select folder Properties, bring up the View tab, scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings section to cancel the selection before simple File sharing (recommended), and if you have "Mickey Mouse" in the options bar Item also cancels its selection. After this modification, the user can easily modify the folder properties like using Windows 20,001.

7. About the problem of not responding or reacting slowly with a network neighbor

When browsing Network Places in WinXP and Win2000, the system defaults to 30 seconds, and Windows uses this time to find out whether a remote computer has a scheduled task (or even a search on the Internet). It is no surprise that more than 10 minutes of delay or even an error is not surprising if the network does not respond to an infinite number of waits when the search is made. The following are the specific solutions.

A. Turn off the WinXP Mission Service (Task Scheduler)

You can open the Task Scheduler Properties dialog box in Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services, click the Stop button to stop the service, and then set the startup type to manual so that the service does not start automatically the next time you start.

B. Deleting individual subkeys in the registry

To find the main health in the registry:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows

Currentversionexplorerremotecomputernamespace "

Among them, the first Zijian determines whether the network Neighborhood to search for printers on the Internet. The second Zijian determines whether the specified scheduled task needs to be found, which is the culprit of slow network Neighborhood and must be removed.

Summarize

The inability to access is mainly due to the fact that XP does not open guest, and even if GUEST,XP is not allowed guest to access the computer from the network by default. And there is the question that deserves attention. Believe that some do not consider the safety of the place or computer companies to do the system password is empty, but this is not allowed to log in. As long as we have tried the above methods, I believe there will be no further problems.
