According to a new research report published by skynet in September 21, Linux software is expected to achieve stable gains in desktop computers of small enterprises in the next few years.

According to a report recently published by Yankee (Yang Ji) group, Linux has little impact on 500 employees in enterprises or smaller enterprises, currently, no more than 1% of such small companies use Linux systems on desktop computers.

However, the report also states that 3-5% of the small enterprises surveyed said that as companies replace old equipment that ran outdated software, they will run Linux on the vast majority of the company's computers within 6-12 months. If you consider planning to choose from now until one year, the number of enterprises that plan to use Linux will grow to 4-10%. the report also states that companies with 20 or fewer employees show that they have the greatest enthusiasm for Linux.

Although Microsoft Windows still dominates the market, research reports show that small companies are still insisting on using older operating systems. Only 46% of enterprises have switched to the current Windows XP system. According to the report, 25% of enterprises are still using Windows 98,2% of enterprises are still sticking to Windows 95.

According to the report, small enterprises "always expect to extend the lifecycle of their assets" are disappointed that they are forced to upgrade according to the product cycle specified by the manufacturer. The report also pointed out that Microsoft recently decided to extend the Technical Support Time for older products, which helps to enhance people's trust in software giants.

Most enterprises that use older Windows versions plan to upgrade to XP in the next 12 months. However, about 70% of small enterprises plan to upgrade and switch, but if they are enterprises with 20 or fewer employees, the proportion planned to be upgraded is reduced to 57%.

Analysts pointed out that in addition to being more price-sensitive, in general, these very small companies have much simpler technical requirements, this makes it possible for small companies to switch to Linux without causing major upgrade problems.
