Apple CEO Steve Jobs submitted a resignation request to Apple's board of directors. He recommended the company's COO Tim Cook to succeed him. In his letter of resignation, he wrote that he was no longer able to continue as CEO, but said he was willing to be chairman, director or other general Staff of the company. The following is the full text of the resignation letter:
To Apple's board and Apple:
I have always said that if one day I can no longer be the CEO of Apple to fulfill my duties and meet the expectations of people, I will tell you first. Unfortunately, this naïve came.
I hereby declare my resignation as CEO of Apple. If the board deems it appropriate, I would like to be chairman, director or even an ordinary employee.
As for my successor, I strongly recommend the implementation of our succession plan and nominate Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I think Apple's brightest and most innovative days are behind it. I look forward to taking care of Apple's success and contributing to it in my new position.
I have made some of the best friends in my life at Apple, and I want to thank everyone who has worked with me for many years.
