Data growth remains the biggest obstacle to a large enterprise's hardware infrastructure, according to a new study by the IT research and consultancy firm Gartner, the latest research by foreign media, the news reported October 12. The study was conducted from June to August this year, with participants from 1004 large enterprises in 8 countries.
Gartner Research says 47% of respondents ranked data growth as the first challenge. 62% said they planned to expand the hardware capacity of existing data centers by the end of this year; 30% were planning to create new data centers.
"Since 2010, when the global economy began to recover, corporate data growth averaged 40% to 60%, including a surge of unstructured data," explained Naveen Mishra, Gartner's chief researcher. ”
Many companies are now hampered by poor infrastructure and products, and need to deliver efficient and scalable infrastructure solutions to help companies recover growth.
37% of respondents ranked system functionality and scalability as the second biggest challenge in the coming year, followed by network congestion and access architectures.
67% of respondents said they plan to invest in Solution server virtualization, with 56% of respondents planning to invest in application consolidation and 51% of respondents planning to develop blade servers.
The last 44% said they would increase the budget next year, 40% said the budget was unchanged and 14% per cent thought they would cut the budget, and 2% per cent were unclear.
