Brazil, Argentina to join hands to prevent Chinese products from occupying both markets

Brazil and Argentina are worried about their domestically market share loss to Chinese products in neighboring countries, and have decided to take precautionary measures, according to Bahr, Brazil's deputy minister of development, industry and foreign trade. Technicians from both countries will first analyze why Chinese products are able to march into the South American market and, if necessary, advise the Government to adopt measures such as simplifying foreign trade procedures and facilitating applications for loans.　　Bahr points out that Brazil may lose to Chinese products in Argentina due to product competitiveness, liquidity problems or changes in popular consumption habits.　　Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat data show that the market share of Brazilian paper and textile products in Argentina fell from 34% and 29% respectively to 30% and 9% per cent, while Chinese products increased from 4% and 56% to 10% and 78%. Argentine products also encounter similar problems in Brazil.　　For example, the market share of furniture products in Brazil fell from 7% to 1%, while the market share of Chinese furniture increased from 25% to 40%. Bahr pointed out that Brazil and Argentina will also work to expand sales to China, together with the trade delegation to China to participate in the promotion of food and footwear products.
