BEIJING, December 15 (Zhang Yu) PwC reported here 15th that in the second half of 2009, the number of mergers and acquisitions in China (including Hong Kong and Macao) or more than 1800, the number of transactions a year or 3200, has returned to a higher level last year.  It is understood that in the second half of last year and the whole year, the number of mergers and acquisitions in China was about 2000 and 3797 respectively. The report notes that the pick-up in deals has benefited from an increase in domestic transactions, with nearly 90% of transactions being invested in mainland China or Hong Kong, China. Offshore strategic investors remain on the sidelines, with fewer than 400 reported transactions this year, down 40% from last year.  And the financial investors trading activity and the last year basically flat, only accounted for the total number of mergers and acquisitions in China 6%, the annual number of transactions published less than 200. The report also suggests that China's outbound mergers and acquisitions activity will grow by an annual average of 40% over the next few years as Chinese companies grow in confidence.
