In 11/29/2011, although a major restructuring had just been completed at the beginning of the year, Cisco still seemed dissatisfied and a new restructuring plan was launched recently.

Cisco has integrated its network management Technology Division (NMTG) with two other Bu to form a new network management division, led by Cisco CIO Rebecca Jacoby, the network World reported.

"Internet World" obtained a Cisco internal memo, the memo's author is Cisco CTO and Senior Network engineering vice President Padmasree Warrior, Cisco Operator Division senior vice president and general manager Pankaj Patel, they said in the memo, Cisco has built the cloud and Systems Management Technology Division (CSMTG), led by Jacoby, to coordinate network engineering and services to compete for cloud computing, IaaS, PAAs and SaaS market share.

Cisco has confirmed the reorganization and the authenticity of the memo. CSMTG now includes three departments: NMTG (the group is currently headed by Vice President and general manager Jamie Lerner), Cisco Intelligent Automation Services and service delivery platform department. Three years ago, Nmtg, senior vice president of Cisco, who jumped to the post of Oracle, Jesper Andersen as Csmtg senior vice president and general manager of Cisco Operator Video Technology group, led by senior vice President Marthin De Beer of Cisco Emerging Business group.

The reason that Jacoby is responsible for CSMTG is that, as a Cisco CIO, she has a cross-functional management experience, and the CIO position remains.

"The role of CSMTG leader is more important than any other role, and it gives us the ability to deliver integrated products, services and software," the Cisco memo said. We need this role to have extraordinary capabilities-strong leadership, cross-functional influence and management capabilities, a thorough understanding of the infrastructure, operations, and business deployments of business and carrier customers, and a wealth of knowledge of products, software, and services. And Rebecca is the candidate for the job, and over the years she has been adept at coordinating it and network design in many of Cisco's projects. ”

As Cio,jacoby will continue to be owned by Cisco, executive vice president of operations, processes and systems, Randy Pond led. As the head of CSMTG, she will also be headed by warrior and Patel.

By consolidating services and network engineering in CSMTG, Cisco hopes to achieve some of the following goals:

Leverage Cisco's advanced service delivery team's operational practices to build advanced management and automation capabilities in Cisco Software.

Develop IaaS, PaaS, SaaS solutions based on Cisco hardware, software, and service components.

Through the Senior service team, to all market segments of the cloud environment and traditional environmental sales management and automation solutions.

Leverage Cisco's services and network engineering partnerships, technology mix (e.g., VMware, Emc/vce, NETAPP, Oracle, SAP), and other marketing partners.

Leverage the global capabilities of Cisco's technical services team to support Cisco's software solutions.

Leverage the IT team led by Jacoby to deploy CSMTG development solutions within Cisco.

This reorganization also demonstrates Cisco's desire to become a whole it vendor and not just a network infrastructure provider. Observers believe that the inclusion of NMTG in the CSMTG is intended to dilute the "network" aspects of network management.

As a result of the internal development of a variety of products and Cisco over the past 20 years more than 150 acquisitions of products obtained by the hybrid, making the integration of products increasingly complex, incompatible phenomenon frequently, over the years network management has become a headache for Cisco a big challenge. Part of Andersen's job is to eliminate these inconsistencies and simplify Cisco's network management business.

The formation of this csmtg and the movement of executives could be seen as the continuation of Cisco's big restructuring last summer. In that big reorganization, Cisco cut 12,000 employees.

In the latest earnings, Cisco CEO Chambers said last year's big restructuring had been largely completed. Cisco's finances have improved markedly in the first quarter of fiscal year 2012.
