Data from IBM's benchmark service, released in Thursday, showed that the shopping spree in the US was launched early in Thursday, with net sales up 14.3% per cent year-on-year, with an average value of $132.57 for each order. The field of mobile commerce is particularly eye-catching.

Prior to this, market research firm comscore predicted in Wednesday that E-commerce sales in the US would grow by 14% per cent year-on-year, to $42 billion trillion, during the Christmas shopping season.

IBM said that as of the eastern time of Thursday noon, the use of mobile devices to access the Retail site users reached 26.5%, 2011 only 15.8%. The average number of page views on a mobile device is 7.13 pages.

Some insiders believe that mobile commerce is so eye-catching because during Thanksgiving, when a family huddled together, browsing the shopping site through this equipment will not spoil the atmosphere of reunion.

Apple occupies a very high share of it. IBM said the iphone became the most visited device on the retail web site, with 9.6% of the traffic coming from the phone. The second is the ipad, with a share of 9.3%. All Android traffic totals only 7.3%.

Even when it came to shopping, mobile devices accounted for a high percentage: 14.1% of consumers completed online purchase orders via mobile devices, 4% higher than last year.

However, the so-called "social shopping" did not achieve the expected results. "Social shopping" refers to shopping done through the recommendations of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. IBM says such purchases account for only 0.2% of all online purchases.

This can occur for two reasons: it is possible that the user has not yet adapted to this form, or it may be that the field is still at an early stage of development. But overall, online shopping and mobile shopping average purchases of 3.67 items per order.

Since most physical stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, E-commerce will be particularly active this day. Some of the big brands, such as Apple, have started to promote worldwide.

The IBM benchmark service, which collects data directly from 500 of the largest retailers in the United States, can better show the pattern of the U.S. e-commerce market.

IBM also released a new report on the eastern time of Thursday three o'clock in the afternoon, saying that by that time, E-commerce retail sales in the US had grown by 16.4% over the same period in 2011. Other indicators have also been slightly elevated.
