Dell Cloud Computing Program First Data center settled in UK

Dell unveiled a 1 billion-dollar cloud services program this April, and Dell is now stepping up its first step in setting up a data center in Slough, UK.

Slough is located about 22 kilometres west of London, and the Dell Slough Data Center will be operational in 2012, a data center with an energy efficiency module server that will store data from X-ray images to e-mail, and will run desktop virtualization services that work with VMware.

The new Slough Data Center will support Dell's IT outsourcing and cloud computing services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

In April this year, Dell unveiled its 1 billion Dollar cloud services program, and building data centers around the country is only part of the plan.

By the beginning of 2012, Dell will also be providing healthcare-based cloud computing services in the UK, based on Dell's cloud healthcare storage platform, which allows healthcare providers to effectively store and manage shared medical imaging data.
