Familyko: Bridge for separated families

According to foreign media reports, the family members of different places, lack of communication, many families are inevitable to face a problem. And Familyko as an interactive video conferencing platform, it allows families, especially families with children, in the online chat room to play games and read story books, to enhance the feelings of family members, the separation between the family members of the bridge between the communication.

"We give families in separate places something to talk about, which can enhance the relationship between family members," says Rafael Oca of Familyko. "Using Familyko is a bit like using Skype or FaceTime, but it has some very nice features."

Familyko, created by a Philippine team, hopes to bridge the Philippines ' overseas workers and their families. The service will be launched later this year, when it will release PC apps, IPhone, ipad and Android apps.

Rafael Orcas says there are currently 13 million Filipinos working around the world, such as home helpers, caregivers, software developers, and others. So he thinks it's a market that covers more than 4 million Filipino households.

Key interactive elements of the service come from virtual books, courses, and games that users can purchase in their applications. The application itself is free.

The Company believes it is particularly important for Familyko to board the ipad and other tablets because the interaction will be better on a touchscreen screen.

Familyko is one of the first 11 projects JFDI Innov8 bootcamp incubation, with the same group Hobbymash the winner of the weekend Manila station.

Of course, this interactive video conferencing application can also be international expansion. "Our ultimate goal is to be the preferred application of a separated family around the world," Rafael said. "Separated families may be migrant workers in other countries or a large number of Single-parent families in the west." In single-parent families, close relatives, such as aunts and grandparents, interact with children to benefit the child's growth.

Familyko's rivals include Splaype, a Skype-based interactive chat tool developed by the Singapore team. But Familyko's difference is that it has its own independent application.
