In October 2011, Bluestacks released the first beta version of the Android application simulator (app player), enabling people to download and access thousands of Android apps on their PCs. Later, the software logged on to the Mac platform in February 2013 and later released the Windows 8 version of Surface Pro. Bluestacks said that the software in the 1-quarter activation volume, reached 4.3 million. PC makers, including Lenovo and Asus, also pre-installed the software on their devices. The software uses Bluestacks's own layercake to provide emulation of the running environment for Windows and Macs.
