Beijing time September 29 afternoon news, according to foreign media reports, Dell's Greater China Region President Midha (Amit Midha) said in Wednesday that the company will launch a 7-inch tablet in the next few weeks, and will launch a 10-inch Tablet PC in the next 6-12 months. Dell is one of many companies that have joined the tablet wars after Apple launched its 9.7-inch ipad tablet 5 months ago. Michael Dell, the company's CEO, presented a 7-inch tablet at a meeting at Oracle a week ago, but did not disclose the release date. "Michael had shown this product at Oracle World Conference last week and we will soon be releasing it-probably within the next few weeks," Midha said in a media interview. He said Dell would release a "whole batch" of new products in the next 6-12 months, including 3-inch, 4-inch and 10-inch devices. "In fact, we will soon be releasing this 7-inch tablet and another 3-inch product," he said. Midha confirmed that the 7-inch tablet would use Google's Android smartphone operating system, but added that some of the new products would still be using Microsoft's Windows operating system, but he did not disclose the exact name of the product. He added that Dell was still considering whether to apply Google Chrome OS to its products. The world's third-largest computer maker has started selling 5-inch tablets in the US market this year, which will also be on the Australian market by Friday and sold at a price of 649 Australian dollars (about $628) through the Singapore Telecom's subsidiary, Optus. Midha said Dell plans to sell the 5-inch tablet in China later this year. Dell announced a partnership with China Mobile last year to sell smartphones in China. Midha noted that Dell is not currently considering working with other Chinese telecom operators. "I think we will continue to work with China Mobile," he said. There are no new announcements. "Dell said last week that annual revenue for the current fiscal year would exceed $60 billion trillion." By 2012, Midha said, China would overtake the US as Dell's largest PC market. He also reiterated that China's PC market is expected to grow 18% to 20%, while Dell's market share will increase.
