Sina Science and technology news Beijing time July 10, Facebook announced in Monday that it has launched App Center Application store services in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK, and will be in Brazil, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, in the coming weeks, Taiwan and Turkey launch the service.
Last week, it was reported that Facebook is planning to expand App Center to U.S. foreign markets. Facebook confirmed the news this week. Meanwhile, to make app center more suitable for developers around the world, Facebook has also launched an application translation tool.
Facebook launched App Center in the US in June to better help users discover apps. APP Center offers personalized recommendations and offers applications for mobile devices. The promotion of the service to the global market is a key step, as users outside the US and Canada account for more than 80% of the total number of Facebook users. The service will also allow users to stay on Facebook for longer periods of time and attract application developers who want to cover more users.
After Facebook launches App Center, users can see App Center bookmarks in the left-hand sidebar of Facebook and Facebook's iphone, ipad and Android apps.
Facebook also unveiled the progress that app Center has made since its launch. Facebook says millions of users have used app center to discover new apps. Game developer Kixeye says games downloaded via App Center can lead to higher per-user average revenue (ARPU). Disney says that if users download the Avengers league game through app Center, they will have a higher degree of participation.
Launching App Center on the international market is not just about Facebook's user profile, but it's also in the interests of developers. For example, well-known gaming and application developers such as Halfbrick, Rovio, SoundCloud, Spotify and Deezer are located outside the United States.
Facebook wants to provide applications in a more unified way. Through the translation tool, other countries ' developers can make the application suitable for English users, and English application can also better open the international market.
Dru Hoss Hoskins, the Facebook App Center executive, points out that app Center will also provide more localized tools while providing application translation services. Developers will have the option to apply the primary and secondary languages. When a user in a secondary language country downloads an application, the application can automatically display content in that language. He said the translated content would be audited to ensure compliance with the rules before being released via App Center.
If applications want the first batch of apps to go into the new app Center application store, the developers should submit apps by July 13, says Hoth.
So far, Facebook says, 230 million users have played games on Facebook every month, and over 130 games have more than 1 million active subscribers a month. In addition, iOS and Android apps are also boosting the flow of the Facebook platform. Of the top 10 iOS and Android games, there were 7 and 6 games that integrated Facebook services.
