Gnome and KDE are discussing partnering to develop a new project to serve as a Dropbox http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/29607.html "> Free software Alternative." Dropbox is a popular online synchronization, backup and Sharing tool that supports Windows, Macs, Linux, and the iphone. KDE's proposed owncloud project is a complete cloud solution that can be run on a server or desktop or hosted by a service provider. Its function is more complex than Dropbox. Owncloud can be used as a music server, a picture library, or a storage space for configuration and files.
