"Tenkine Server channel November 28" Today, IBM holds the theme "Safe and efficient virtual intelligence--The open new choice for enterprise virtualization and the launch of the IBM KVM Center for Excellence" in Beijing. At the meeting, IBM announced the establishment of the world's first KVM Center of Excellence, focused on the promotion of open source virtualization, improve enterprise deployment virtualization and cloud computing business efficiency.
The IBM KVM (Beijing) Center for Excellence is divided into three main functions: presenting IBM KVM Solutions to customers and partners, testing customer and partner-related solutions, and providing training to customers and partners.

IDC data shows that the global virtual machine software market grew to more than 3.6 billion dollars in 2012, compared with last year's 3 billion U.S. dollars, a 16.7% year-on-year growth. The Chinese market has grown far above the average, to 25.6%. This may be why IBM set the world's first KVM Center of Excellence in China.
KVM focuses on virtualization technology and the cloud. This technology enables the server to share the simpler and simpler sharing between different users, while leveraging the relative security of the Linux platform and the more robust and reliable scalability features to provide an enterprise-class virtual machine management platform for Linux and Windows workloads while achieving cost reduction. And all of this is a good plan for companies, especially growth companies. "How to quickly build IT infrastructure to meet business needs is an important challenge for customers in fast-growing markets," says Mr. Huaqing, vice president of IBM Greater China and general manager of systems and Technologies, will help users in growing markets like China build flexible IT infrastructures to drive business innovation. ”

IBM has pointed out in its CIO study research that virtualization and cloud computing are the two most important technologies that customers believe are currently the most significant, helping businesses save costs, have more efficient data access, support disaster recovery, and have the ability to handle massive amounts of data quickly.
IBM points out that the reasons for enterprise users to use open source virtualization, such as KVM, are mainly as follows:
· High performance and high scalability: Currently the highest seven virtualization performance benchmarks are maintained by KVM;
· High security: SELinux allows KVM technology to provide mandatory access control between virtual machines security, KVM has been eal4+ certification;
· Efficient virtualization Management: Full open Virtualization management tools available from IBM, Red Hat, and open source communities.
The reason for this is to reduce the cost of enterprise architecture virtualization. KVM is developed by the open community, and its main members include Red Hat, IBM, SUSE, and many other it leading vendors. This development approach based on open source technology enables KVM to achieve faster feature and version upgrades.
According to the IBM related person, IBM in its x86 product solutions full support KVM, specific categories are as follows:
· IBM System x servers, IBM BladeCenter servers, and IBM Pureflex systems;
· IBM System Director Vmcontrol supports the management of multiple virtual machine programs;
· IBM software products, including IBM SmartCloud Solutions and Tivoli products;
· IBM zenterprise BladeCenter Extension (ZBX) and IBM Unified Resource Manager;
· IBM SmartCloud Enterprise Public cloud solution;
In addition, IBM will provide worldwide support for the IBM SmartCloud entry KVM solution from December 14, 2012. IBM SmartCloud Entry is able to convert virtualized systems into private clouds, including customer web portals for self-service workload preparation, workload measurement, and virtual machine mirroring management.
IBM has been working on KVM technology since 2007, and in 2011 opened the Open Source Virtualization Alliance (OVA), which includes independent software developers, system integrators, and cloud service providers. The alliance is a cross-industry organization dedicated to increasing the impact of KVM and accelerating the growth of KVM based Third-party solutions. The Open Virtualization Alliance now has more than 250 members worldwide.
