Nokia plans to re-enter US market

On the face of it, Nokia is certainly prepared to focus on developing the US market, but some analysts say Nokia currently has a 3% share in the US smartphone market, so the company still has a long way to go, especially if it does not provide more CDMA handsets. Jack Gold, analyst at J.gold Associates, an American market research firm, said: "In the case of Nokia in North America, getting a lot of smartphone market share is like climbing Mount Everest, but they are on their own." He added: "CDMA has more than half the U.S. market, so if Nokia cuts off half of the potential market right away, how much will they be determined to do?" Nokia has not yet announced N8 's release date, although some insiders believe the product is expected to go public by September 21.  Giles added that although no contract had been signed with N8, American operators had given "some very positive feedback" to the product. Given that Nokia is not ready to develop more CDMA handsets and is preparing for LTE, Giles said: "If we are to re-enter the U.S. market as a challenger, we must be slow and steady."
