There are many
open source cloud computing technology, including eucalyptus, Opennebula and OpenStack. Many of these open source technologies exist in commercial editions, resulting in little or no open source version functionality. I chose to use OpenStack to build the open source cloud because OpenStack is a fully open source technology with no billing or commercial version. OpenStack is a cloud computing platform developed by Rackspace and NASA to help service providers and businesses implement cloud infrastructure services similar to Amazon EC2 and S3 (infrastructure as a service,iaas). The Opienstack contains two main modules: Nova and Swift, a virtual server deployment and Business Computing module developed by NASA, and a distributed cloud storage module developed by Rackspack, which can be used together or separately. In addition to the strong support of Rackspace and NASA, the OpenStack and support of these heavyweight companies, including Dell,citrix,cisco,canonical, has grown very quickly, There is a trend to replace another industry-leading open source cloud platform Eucalyptus.

The original unit is in accordance with the Department assigned to the server, so although it looks good, each department has its own server. But resources are wasted because not every department can use server resources to full load, and each part also manages the server's hardware maintenance. Virtualization can be a good solution to this problem, but for multiple server resource integration and dynamic allocation, the unified management of resources and other aspects of virtualization can not be fully resolved.





Our idea is to build a private cloud within the enterprise's Information Center. The Idle server resources form the private cloud platform of the enterprise to serve the various departments. Taking into account the initial construction difficulties and technical barriers, we are beginning to be able to openstack from the original virtualization to the IaaS (infrastructure, service) cloud platform entirely based on open source technology.





The OpenStack is divided into three parts, the Nova, swift and Glance. Nova is responsible for the resource management of the cloud computing platform. Swift is a storage module that is responsible for image storage, backup, and archiving. Glance is the Image Service module, which is responsible for image management of virtualized systems in the cloud platform. OpenStack Each module is unrelated, we can deploy all modules on a single server or multiple servers. As a preliminary experience cloud platform, we can use 2 servers plus a client to achieve the deployment of cloud computing platform. Specific deployments can refer to the official OpenStack manual, which is not listed here. As the cloud builds, we can put servers from all departments in the unit in the cloud. Servers in each department are actually a virtualized instance of the cloud, all of which are stored uniformly in volumes created by the Glance module. Each instance can easily migrate and dynamically allocate different resources to instances in different hardware servers in the cloud.
