HTC has unveiled HTC One (M8), and Samsung Galaxy S5 will be on sale on April 11, which would be better for the two Android flagship handsets that are destined to confront head-on? We compare the design, display screen, interface, processor and storage space, camera, 5 consumer concerns.
The first round: design
To be honest, Samsung's latest generation of Galaxy S flagship handsets have been poorly designed-albeit lightweight, but the bare plastic shells are always a bit off. S5 's back shell uses a concave point design and matte treatment, which looks more exquisite and feels good.
In contrast, HTC one (M8) All-metal chassis and wiredrawing processing is very pleasing, the drawback is slightly thicker than S5. The former is 9.35 mm thick and weighs 160 grams, while the latter is 8.1 mm thick and weighs 145 grams.
S5 's fingerprint sensor (on the home button), heart rate sensor (on the back) and waterproof function is not M8, but the lack of these three functions is not to make M8 not worth buying the soft rib.
On the other hand, M8 has a pair of BoomSound speakers whose superior stereo is better than a S5 with only one speaker (on the back), a potential selling point for people who like to listen to music, watch videos and play games with their mobile phones.
Second round--display
Mobile phones with 1440*2560 pixel QHD displays are expected to be available within the year, but S5 and M8 display resolutions are 1080*1920--but, in fact, such precision is beyond the scope of the naked eye, and higher resolution will be more pressure on the performance of mobile phones and battery endurance.
The S5 and M8 screens are almost as large as 5.1 inches and 5 inches, with pixel densities of 432ppi and 441ppi respectively. The difference is: S5 uses a super AMOLED display, many people like its vivid colors and excellent visual angle; M8 uses a third-generation super LCD display that works better than the previous generation of HTC one. For users, the S5 and M8 screens mean two different choices in terms of visual effects: S5 more gorgeous, and M8 more authentic.
Third round-Interface
S5 will be equipped with an improved version TouchWiz customization interface based on the Android 4.4.2 Kat, which takes on a flat, minimalist style that is now prevalent in the industry. Many additional features, such as Smart Stay, Multiwindow, and Blocking Mode, have been retained for previous versions of TouchWiz, and a number of new features have been added, such as the main screen news reading panel, my Magazine (my magazine), Private mode, which can hide part of the content, and ultra power saving mode, which can greatly extend battery endurance.
At the same time, M8 's Sense 6.0 interface also presents a significant flattening and light desalination trend, and news aggregation features BlinkFeed has been greatly updated and opened to application developers. M8 's interface is more concise and refreshing than S5, but it also has a lot less fancy software features than the latter. Everyone's preference for these two interfaces is a matter for the beholder: TouchWiz features are numerous but slightly bloated, sense more concise and beautiful.
Fourth round-processor and storage space
S5 and M8 have adopted the industry's most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 骁丽 long chip, but the S5 with 2.5GHz, from the number of 2.3GHz than the M8 more than a raise.
The two-cell phone has 2GB of RAM, which is a bit inadequate-the ability to multitask can be less than the existing 3GB memory phone on the market, but enough to meet the needs of most users.
In terms of storage space, the S5 has 16GB and 32GB two versions, and has 6GB around the system files can not be removed, through the MicroSD card slot to expand storage space; M8 also has 16GB and 32GB two versions, and storage space can be extended through MicroSD slots to the highest 128GB.
Fifth round--camera
Samsung's high-end handsets have long been impressive on camera, and S5 is no exception-it has a 16 million-megapixel camera with super fast autofocus, a real-time preview of HDR mode, and support for 4K hyper-clear video shots.
M8 is equipped with a very innovative "dual-camera" (Duo Camera), the main camera and depth sensor with the use of a number of special effects can be achieved, especially after the camera to adjust the focus and the background of the virtual processing. This function is absolutely cool, but it is not "epoch-making"-in fact, S5 also have similar functions, but did not M8 so fluent.
M8 's main camera is the same as the previous version of HTC one's "hyper-pixel" (ultrapixel) rear camera, are 1/3.0 sensors, f/2.0 aperture and 2 micron pixels, the resolution of the older version did not improve, it is a bit disappointing. However, the 5 million-pixel front wide-angle camera makes M8 an auto camera, far more suitable for self-portraits than S5 's 2.1 million-pixel front-facing cameras.
Summary
Samsung Galaxy S5 features a rich, waterproof, 16 million-pixel rear-facing camera and has great selling potential, while HTC one (M8), with its excellent fuselage workmanship, innovative camera and front-mounted stereo speakers, will undoubtedly be of interest to commentators and consumers.
We're still not sure if we can be better at this because we can't compare them together, but HTC one (M8) is certainly better looking than the Galaxy S5. In addition, we are somewhat skeptical about the actual effectiveness of the dual camera.
