Lead: The Internet edition of Time magazine said this week that Microsoft would appoint senior executive Seia Nadra (Satya Nadella) as CEO next week to replace Ballmer (Steve Ballmer). Analysts believe that for Microsoft, Nadra is a safe candidate for the CEO. The following is the full article: Microsoft Executive Seia Nadra has now become the top candidate for Microsoft's next CEO. As opposed to some of the other candidates, Barnard is not very famous. But inside Microsoft, he is a respected veteran who is currently in charge of Microsoft's next-generation computing platform. Microsoft is likely to appoint Nadra as CEO early next week. Nadra, aged 46, was born in Hyderabad, India, according to Reuters. If he becomes Microsoft's CEO, he will be the most powerful Indian-American high-end in the global technology industry. Microsoft's search for the new CEO has lasted 5 months, with the post rumored to include Ford CEO Alain Murali Alan Mulally, Nokia's former CEO Elop (Steven Elop), and other Microsoft insiders and outsiders. Nadra is currently in charge of Microsoft's cloud computing and enterprise groups, which is responsible for Microsoft's cloud operating system business. He also served as president of Microsoft's 19 billion dollar server and tools business. Over the past 20 years, Nadra has worked closely with Microsoft CEO Ballmer and co-founder Bill Gates. If appointed, Nadra will become Microsoft's third CEO after Gates and Ballmer. "It's a safe choice," said Kevin Walkush, a business analyst at Jensen Investment Management. Many people hope that a person with a revolutionary vision for the technology industry will be able to run Microsoft. These people may feel disappointed. Others argue that Microsoft needs CEOs familiar with business like Nadra. Because Microsoft is very complex, the CEO needs internal experience. Microsoft has failed to keep up with Apple and Google as the mobile computing market has grown fast. Microsoft has yet to find the right way to compete, despite billions of of billions of dollars invested in mobile software and equipment and the introduction of products such as surface tablets. Last fall, Microsoft announced a 7.2 billion-dollar takeover of Nokia's mobile phone business, but the Nokia handset business could be too small and too late for the deal. Data from the U.S. mobile device and software market reflect the challenges Microsoft faces. In this market, Microsoft's mobile operating system is only 3.6%, below Android's 81% and iOS's 12.9%, according to IDC. In IDC's list of smartphone makers, Nokia has not even been able to list. The leader of this list is Samsung and Apple. Nadra was transferred from Sun to Microsoft in 1992. He received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Mangalore, the University of Wisconsin, MilwaukeeA master's degree in Computer Science and an MBA from the University of Chicago. In an interview with Indian media last year, Nadra called Gates an outstanding figure. He recalls that he received the first e-mail from gates about the features that were being developed. Nadra said he would work closely with gates on the Bing search engine. The CEO sent me an email to discuss the function is exciting, I never thought he would notice the problem. Then I spent the whole weekend replying to his emails. When I started working at Microsoft, I was fortunate to witness the rise of the client server architecture, Nadra said. I now have the opportunity to participate in the development of cloud computing, which has the ability to influence everyone's life. In an interview, Nadra also gave the following advice to Indian students: stay enthusiastic and courageous and continue to learn. If you stop learning, you can't continue to do useful things.
