In Friday, according to a recent survey published by the two nonprofit groups, the U.S. News and review website, The Huffington Post, said Apple's factory, Foxconn's work environment, was so overworked that workers were forced to sign a "no suicide" agreement. The following is an overview of the article: according to the latest report published by the Multinational Research Centre (center for Study on Multinational corporations) and the Hong Kong Civil society organization "University teachers and students ' supervision of unscrupulous Enterprise Action" (hereinafter referred to as "SACOM"), A 22-year-old female worker at the Foxconn Chengdu Plant said: "Some of my roommates often cry in the dorm, and I have a feeling of crying and not having tears." "The company immediately became a target of criticism after a spate of employee suicides at the Shenzhen plant in Foxconn last summer was reported by the media. Apple then sent people to the Foxconn factory to check the working conditions, but decided that the company had taken appropriate measures to ensure the safety of workers. Workers at Foxconn's Shenzhen plant later received a pay rise, although workers at Foxconn's Chengdu and Chongqing factories did not enjoy the treatment. The latest report reveals that the working conditions at Foxconn's Chengdu plant do not meet the standards of the Apple supplier Code of conduct. The Code of Conduct stipulates that Apple suppliers should not force workers to work overtime, ensure a safe working environment, and ensure that all employees are respected. Today, Foxconn is asking workers to sign a "no suicide" guarantee, and if they commit suicide, their families can only ask for the minimum amount of economic compensation required by Chinese law. The survey reported that Foxconn workers are working long hours and low wages, just like "robots". The two agency survey also found that although under Chinese law the monthly overtime cannot exceed 36 hours, Foxconn workers often work overtime for more than 80-100 hours per month. While such overtime is technically voluntary, workers who disagree with overtime say they are being turned down when they want to work overtime when they are low on the off-season. A worker told investigators: "If I don't work overtime, I can only get basic wages, in which case I have no choice." "Sacom's report says Foxconn workers usually queue for a shuttle bus from 6:45 A.M. to the plant, and each car is crowded with people who can only stand on the way. After arriving at the factory immediately to work, three hours to go to lunch, after dinner five hours, then rest for dinner, back to work two hours. At the end of the day, they crowded into the bus and stood back to the dormitory. Most workers were asked to do what they wanted to do, and the answer was "sleep." At the Foxconn plant, even after a break, workers have to lie on the ground for a nap or smoke alone, with little communication between them. A worker said: "We are always in line, waiting in line to wait for the bus, line up to the toilet, line up to play rice." Rest, even a suitable place is not, can only sit on the ground. "Workers if at workLazy or failed to complete the task, will be forced to write a "confession", and then in front of colleagues to read aloud. Foxconn spokesman Woo told the media: "We do not support or encourage this humiliation of workers, but there are too many workers in the company, I do not rule out such a thing happened." But we are changing the situation. "Health conditions in Foxconn factories are extremely poor and workers are in poor health, but it is difficult to get approval for sick leave," the report said. The chemicals used to assemble parts are often harmful to the human body, but Foxconn has not told workers about the potential danger. In one department in the factory, the room was filled with aluminum powder, and the workers ' hands, clothes and faces were stained with the harmful substances. "At Foxconn's workshop, I inhale dust like a vacuum cleaner," said one worker. My nostrils are dusky every day. "Even after work, workers are not freed from the stress of work because of the limited living conditions," he said. The workers ' meals and accommodation are completely settled by themselves, crammed into rooms that can sleep up to 24 people and are not allowed to use hair dryers or electric kettles. The workers said the food at the Foxconn cafeteria was hard to swallow. A male worker said: "On the first day of work, after eating the canteen meal, I almost spit out." I've never tasted anything so awful before. "Although the wages of the workers can reach 1300 yuan, because of the calculation error and the loss of payroll, the last hand is often not so much." Even the complaints, the workers said, would not be investigated by the management. According to Sacom, Foxconn workers threw bottles and rubbish in the dormitory area in protest in January this year, as wages were wrongly calculated. At last the police went out to quell the incident. But Foxconn told the media that the conflict had nothing to do with work, but was triggered by personal problems among workers. Apple has so far sold 20 million units in the first quarter of ipad,2011 year, with a record revenue of $26.74 billion trillion. But workers at Foxconn's Chengdu plant can't afford an ipad for two months. "I can't afford it," said one worker. I come from the countryside, to Foxconn is to sell physical strength, the biggest hope is to improve the living conditions of our family. "(Yong-hung)
