In this week's time, I repeatedly think back to the past because I saw hope. The future is not Mac, nor is it PC. Apple has created a lot of good computers: Apple IIe, Mac and iPhone (mobile Internet). But I still like some other brand computers, as well as the millet phone, but these are not important. In the face of hope, I always look forward to, a door has been opened, we will pass by this door. Apple CEO Steve Jobs created the computer business, and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg inherited and carried forward it. Now, Steve Jobs will once again bring us into a whole new world.
Second generation cloud computing
The future of this industry will be completely different from its past. It looks as thin as paper, named "iPad." It's not about typing and clicking, it's about touching. It's not about text or animation, it's about video. It's not about local hard drives and desktops, it's about cloud computing. He is not about gathering information, but about information. It is not the transformation of the old software, but completely from scratch. Therefore, the computer industry has become interesting.
Last week, I gave a speech in many parts of the United States, the audience is more than 60 CIO (CIO). The message I send is that we are moving into Cloud 2 from the Cloud 1 era, and the iPad is the accelerator. Many companies have not even entered the Cloud 1 era, still remain in the era of large computers. They are still focused on systems such as IBM's MVS / CICS and Lotus Notes, and have not even heard of Cocoa (Apple's API) and HTML 5, which is unacceptable. iPad presents us a whole new world, but also to promote the entire industry to go faster. Unfortunately, some CIOs prefer to retire and do not want to go faster.
The most exciting is that the fundamental changes Cloud + + social networking site + iPad, will inspire developers to develop many innovative applications, and ultimately change the entire industry. We're always looking forward to personal wellness so we can better communicate with our physicians and help us make better medical decisions. The changes that the iPad brings will facilitate the diffusion of new applications and bring the gospel to those in the industry and professionals who missed the last technological change. Now, no industry will be dropped.
At the end of February, I posted a blog post titled "Facebook Impact," arguing that the enterprise software industry should accelerate. In 1999, I was bewildered by the question: "Why is not other enterprise software as good as the Amazon.com platform?" And in 2010 the question that bothers me was: "Why do not other enterprise softwares like Facebook platform so good? "This week, when the iPad is listed in the United States, we will get the answer. iPad means a more efficient, easy and fun work and life style. iPad tells us: the old world is not good enough. We need new software, as well as a new user interface.
Our industry has undergone many changes, but the biggest change is not hardware, but software. Now, we are about to see the simultaneous changes in hardware and software. Many of the applications we use that cover many areas of efficiency, collaboration, communication, entertainment, education, health, and others are being rewritten to take full advantage of the changes that the iPad brings. The new era will be Facebook on iPad, not Yahoo on personal computers. The computer industry is changing. We have to face the changes head-on, otherwise we may be left behind.
