Gartner expects server market to resume growth this year

Beijing time February 25 morning news, according to foreign media reports, Gartner said in Wednesday last year, the fourth quarter of the global server market revenue again declined, but this year the market is expected to resume growth. Gartner predicts that global server shipments will grow at a higher single-digit level in 2010, while revenue growth will remain low.  2009, the global server market revenue fell 18.3% year-on-year, shipments fell 16.6%. In the fourth quarter of last year, global server market revenue fell 3.2% to 12.6 billion U.S. dollars, but shipments grew 4.5% per cent year-on-year.  This shows that the market share of manufacturers more and more fierce competition. "The recovery from the x86 server market, which began in the third quarter of 2009, continued into the fourth quarter," Jeffrey Hewitt, Gartner analyst Jeffrey Hervit, said in the report. "x86 servers are primarily low-end servers.  Last quarter, this type of server market revenue growth of 14.3% year-on-year, shipments increased 6.3%. In the quarter, IBM was still the world's largest server vendor in terms of revenue. But IBM's share of the global server market has declined, with the fourth quarter being 32.7%. In terms of shipments, HP ranks first in the global server market. In the quarter, Dell was strong in the server market, with revenue up 8.3% per cent year-on-year, while Sun's related revenues fell by more than 20% year-on-year. (D-Gold)
