Gartner Server Q3 Report: Less shipments and lower revenue

"Tenkine Server channel compilation," Gartne research company's latest statistics report, compared with the same period last year, global server shipments increased slightly by 1.9% in the third quarter of 2013, while total revenues fell by 2.1% compared with a year earlier.

"According to our assessment of the situation in the second quarter of this year, the global server market is still in a relatively sluggish running trend," said Jeffrey Hewitt, vice president of Gartner Research. "Only three regions have shown positive growth in vendor revenues, with Canada growing 6.5%, the Middle East and Africa growing 12.1% and 0.9% per cent in the United States," he said. In terms of shipments, the Middle East and Africa were the most impressive, up 13% per cent compared with the third quarter of 2012. ”

HP is leading the global server market in terms of revenue (see table i). The company gained 3.4 billion dollars in server revenue and accounted for 27.6% of global market share in the third quarter of 2013. That figure rose 2.2% from a year earlier.

In the third quarter of 2013, the market share before V, only HP and Cisco is to gain revenue growth enterprises.

In terms of server shipments, HP was also ahead of other rivals in the third quarter of 2013 (see chart 2) and grew by 5.4% compared with the same period last year. HP's server shipments accounted for 26.7% per cent of global market share this quarter, up 0.9% from a year earlier.

Of the world's five servers with the largest shipments, only HP and Huawei achieved an increase in shipments in the third quarter of 2013.
