Report (reporter New Yinghui) Hewlett-Packard said yesterday that it plans to invest billions of of dollars in research and innovation, and to promote the development of the HP Hybrid cloud technology. HP CEO Leo Apotheker says HP is looking to build an open market that will provide HP's cloud computing system, as well as applications and services from other service providers and research partners. HP will also spend $2 billion to build its own developer platform. On the corporate side, HP will promote a hybrid model that combines public cloud platforms with private cloud services within the enterprise. Apotheker says the company thinks the cloud is the most disruptive technology since the advent of the PC. For many large companies, having a mixed cloud environment will be overwhelmingly competitive for a long time to come.
