Infineon's first single chip solution for industrial and commercial sensing radar

Infineon Technologies Co., Ltd. publishes the first industrial and commercial sensing radar single chip solution. The new series of products using the silicon germanium (SiGe) manufacturing technology, and the 24GHz ISM band (24.0–24.25ghz) operation, for the current market integration of the highest single crystal chip radar system transceiver, can be paired with only the function of the chip, Provides design flexibility for system designers to achieve cost and performance objectives in a variety of applications.

The new series includes Bgt24mtr11 (single and single receive channels), Bgt24mtr12 (single transmission and two receiving channels) and BGTMR2 (dual receiver). The expansion from a single receiver to more than two receiving channels allows the system to be more accurate and detect within a wider range of enclosures.

The potential applications of new product movement sensing range include height or level monitoring in storage containers (solid or liquid), lighting control, safety system, intelligent door opener and collision protection on industrial vehicles.

This single chip solution uses the industry landmark QFN package to reduce the board area by as much as 30% compared to discrete solutions on the market. The BGTMTRXX series simplifies design and accelerates time-to-market because it saves space for external matching components and RF transmission lines. The miniaturization of design, system elasticity, and cost efficiencies resulting from this solution enable the BGT24MTRXX series to improve performance in existing applications and replace alternative technologies.

For energy-efficient lighting, the 24GHZ radar system is ideal for adjusting the density of street, industrial, and office lighting because it can detect moving objects or people in designated areas. The high resolution of the BGT24MTXXX series improves the height of the storage container or the accuracy of the level measurement system, as the system is not affected by splashes of liquid or dust. Open Door System can easily identify the person will be entering the door or just passing through. Another application is anti-theft alarm, 24GHZ radar indoor coverage range of up to 270m², commonly used infra-red (IR) system is only 10m².

3.3V Bgt24mtr11 maximum detection range of up to 160m, power consumption 500mW, in the Near-field induction applications can reach the level of accuracy of the public. Because of the standard VQFN package, no special equipment or procedures are required to assemble and test products based on the BGT24MTRXX series.
