The idea of a smarter city with a more thorough perception, wider interconnection and more in-depth intelligence was originally proposed by IBM in 2008, which is essentially a new economic growth point after the financial crisis, and was quickly transformed by the world's major cities as a way to promote economic development. A major strategy for promoting industrial upgrading and revitalizing the economy. This paper expounds the origin and implication of intelligent city idea and the development of intelligent city at home and abroad, and analyzes the important influence of intelligent city concept on urban development in the future from aspects of urban management, urban infrastructure construction, IoT technology, industrial development and intelligent life style.
