IOS version 8 Safari can use camera scans to enter credit card numbers

Most of the time you need to enter your own credit card information, the long number on the mobile device input is a nuisance. As a result, Apple has launched a new feature in the iOS version 8 Safari browser, which allows users to use the device's camera to scan credit cards, and then automatically identify the numbers and input the appropriate information to avoid the trouble of manual entry.

Apple has also provided other forms of convenient entry, such as a user can set up credit card information beforehand in Safari's settings "Password and AutoFill", and then quickly choose between subsequent online purchases. This is still valid, except that iOS 8 offers an extra "scan credit card" option.

The principle is to use the camera to take a screenshot of the credit card, and then use OCR (optical word recognition) technology to enter the number into the corresponding text box in Safari.

The activation of this feature is automatic, and Apple appears to automatically detect whether there is a request to enter a credit card number in the Web page, and the "Scan credit card" option is displayed above the key board.

In addition to this feature, this week's WWDC Apple also unveiled some other updates to safari, including a redesign of the Mac OS X Yosemite Safari, a tab view for the ipad, and a third party using its JavaScript engine. In Shareaholic's latest browser share report, Safari performed well, winning 26% per cent of the market, after Google Chrome.
