Is cloud computing a lifesaver for custom code?

Cloud computing is driving the growth of data integration strongly, but it is surprising that 65% of the integration work is still localized, a view from Lance Speck, a company integrated general manager. So it seems that cloud computing has become a lifeline for custom code. So the truth is not like this?

Over the past decade, a lot of people like to build bulky custom code themselves, but when moving to the cloud, we have to break the existing integration and infrastructure, so we have to rethink how to achieve it? You might think that we're not going to be able to build it again, because it's mess, or we're definitely not thinking about it now. But now we have to think about how to build it in an extensible way, and at least for the next ten years. This is also an open topic in itself.

Many vendors were excluded from the data integration tools in the Gartner Magic Quadrant last year, and in 2009 Talend became the first Open-source data integrator to appear in the Magic Quadrant. Since then, no new vendors have been added. There are also different reasons why mainstream data integration solution providers abroad, such as Sybase, Pitney Bowes Business Insight, ETI, and open text, are down.

The most significant changes are metadata management capabilities, changes in the style of data integration, and data quality interaction ... Moreover, there have been a lot of mergers and acquisitions in this area, such as the SAP2007 acquisition of Business Objects, which last year acquired Sybase.

The reduction in the number of vendors in the Magic Quadrant is also related to their inability to match market demand trends, such as multiple data delivery styles, richer metadata management, and more. Companies that still exist in the quadrant have also undergone subtle changes, such as IBM, Informatica, Oracle and SAP, based on the leadership quadrant.

As cloud computing architecture hits the ground, middleware integration challenges arise. In the early stages of cloud application integration, the so-called integration-centric cloud computing, with "infrastructure as a service (IaaS)", "Platform as a service (PaaS)" or "Integrated Platform Services (IPAAS)", including a wide range of middleware services, is effective for successful aggregation. But Ipaas has its own unique challenges, especially security and data-processing issues that continue to remain so in the cloud.
