In the Cloud deployment Http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/8213.html "> Large data applications, the enterprise has a variety of options, and the number of choices is increasing." Having more choices means that the IT team also has to make some important decisions. Should they rely on cloud devices or build the necessary infrastructure themselves?

The first wave of large data cloud devices began last year. Cloudera, EMC, Yahoo's Hortonworks, Infobright, MAPR Technologies and Yottastor all joined the game.

The use of large data equipment for the enterprise has many advantages, first is the convenience. But often the high cost of third-party large data tools refutes this benefit.

"Vendors are equipped with these types of devices, with large data analysis and direct experience, so they try to combine devices with the right storage, memory, bandwidth, and software, and the network is often an easily overlooked part of large data requirements," Evan Quinn, Enterprise strategy Group analyst. Ultimately, IT departments no longer have to decide how to configure the system.

In addition, the equipment is often bundled with management software and maintenance services, no longer just focus on device hardware, but help enterprises meet business objectives.

"To achieve this, large data projects need to deliver compelling business benefits," said Charles Zedlewski, who is Cloudera's VP of products, "sometimes companies focus on technical elegance without clear business goals." "Large data tools also have some potential drawbacks, including security issues. Companies involved in financial services and health care may not want to put their data into the cloud of third-party providers.

In addition, performance can be hampered. Large data vendors typically provide generic platforms that may not be optimized for the sole application of the enterprise.

Cost is another issue. "There's a huge change in prices, starting with 10,000 dollars and sometimes more than 1 million dollars," Zedlewski said.

Although large data cloud devices simplify deployment, they are not simple plug-in systems. There are a lot of support and maintenance issues. IT departments need to track versioning issues, and they have to get data into large data tools that result from this device. Therefore, the enterprise needs to put the program in the appropriate place to backup, when the change of data migration.

ESG found that while large data cloud applications represent the majority of implementations, about 10% to 15%, the number is rising, "in the next six months to a year, I expect big data vendors to come up with more attractive cloud device products," Quinn said. (Translator: Zhang Peiying)
