Beijing time October 21, according to Taiwanese media reports, industry sources said that MediaTek is expected to officially launch its first 8 nuclear microprocessor MT6592 next month.
The source said the adoption of MT6592 by the end of this year would allow smartphone sellers, especially mainland smartphone sellers, to launch new smartphones early next year. In addition, the launch of MT6592 will help MediaTek boost its penetration into the high-end smartphone sector and become a catalyst for growth in the smartphone market in the second half of next year.
The number of smart-phone solutions that MediaTek has shipped to mainland China in the third quarter amounted to 65 million, including its dual-core MT6572 and four nuclear MT6589, which accounted for more than 50% per cent of China's smartphone solutions, according to Taiwanese media reports last week. The source said at the time that in order to maintain its shipping momentum, in the first quarter of next year, before the launch of its initial LTE functional chip, MediaTek plans to launch its 4 new chip MT6588 and 8 nuclear MT6592 solution in the fourth quarter of this year. Buoyed by the launch of its new product, MediaTek is expected to increase its market share in the quarter.
With strong sales in September, MediaTek's third-quarter revenue reached NT $39.2 billion, higher than the company's previous estimate of NT $37.6 billion trillion, the highest quarterly revenue in the company's history. In September alone, the company's revenue reached NT $13.04 billion trillion (about 444.19 million U.S. dollars), the chain growth of 2.3%, year-on-year growth of 18.5%. 2013 years ago 9 months, MediaTek revenue amounted to 96.26 billion NT dollars, an increase of 32.7%.
However, because of the high base in the third quarter and inventory, and other factors, MediaTek expects its fourth quarter revenue will be 33 billion NT $35 billion NT dollars, the chain fell percent. In addition, with strong sales in September, MediaTek expects its third-quarter operating profit margin to increase from 17.7% in the previous quarter.
