Tencent Science and Technology (Lou Chi) June 28 Morning News, Microsoft announced today the appointment of GUPDA (Sandy Gupta) as Microsoft (China) chief Technology Officer (National Marvell Officer). He is to be transferred to China this summer and will be stationed in Beijing. GUPDA is the general manager of the Microsoft Global Open Solutions Division (OSG), whose global team is responsible for delivering mixed-source cloud solutions, promoting business development with open source solutions vendors and developing strategic partnerships to help deliver innovative solutions to Microsoft's large customers around the world. "GUPDA has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry and has held several positions in China over the past 20 years," said Ralph Haupter, vice president of Microsoft and Hele chief executive of Greater China. We are delighted that he can join our team in Beijing and his rich experience will promote our long-term development in China. "GUPDA has a wealth of IT industry experience, including cloud, interoperability, mobility, standards, open source, system architecture, development technology, and other important emerging technologies." As Microsoft's China Chief technology officer, GUPDA will lead the China Regional Technology Officer (RTO) team to establish Microsoft's strategic technical leadership by working with central and local governments to help local government improve civic services, promote social progress and economic growth, and develop business opportunities. Before joining Microsoft in 2008, GUPDA worked in the UNIX industry for nearly 20 years. Early in his career, he worked as a UNIX kernel and device driver developer at Fujitsu ICL. He then held senior management positions at a number of UNIX companies and was responsible for driving the business and technology strategy. GUPDA has a bachelor's degree in computer Engineering from Delhi University and an alumnus of the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University.
