Microsoft expands Office365 multiple authentication capabilities to all users

The company also revealed that this security feature will be extended to Office2013 desktop applications later this year (including Outlook, Lync, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SkyDrive Pro). Multiple certifications require you to use more than one authentication form to access your account. In the case of Office365, it requires the user to enter the correct password, but also on the smartphone by telephone, SMS or application notification certification. OFFICE365 's multiple certifications involve midsize enterprises, career, academic, non-profit, and individual programs, including Exchange online and SharePoint Online. Organizations that subscribe to these software can activate the feature for users without requiring additional purchases. Here's how to use this feature: • Make sure you are logged on as an administrator and open Office365 Management Center. • On the user and Group page, click the Set multi-factor authentication requirements:set up link, Register users who require multiple certifications. • On this page, you can see all users and whether they are registered as multiple certifications. • Once registered, the next time a user logs in, you will see the requirement to set a second authentication factor (phone, SMS, application notification or one-time authentication code). Although the OFFICE365 administrator has been able to use this feature since June 2013, Microsoft has now extended it to all users. The company also added a password feature that allows them to apply authentication from office desktops. In addition to the planned Office2013 multiple certifications this year, Microsoft plans to integrate other forms of authentication, such as Third-party multiple authentication solutions and smart cards.
