Microsoft: Windows Azure will support Linux virtual machines

Beijing time, January 4, Microsoft plans to add Linux virtual machine support to Windows Azure virtual machine technology to enable users to run freely in Windows and Linux virtual machines to implement SQL Server and SharePoint applications.

As we all know, Azure already has the virtual machine role service, allowing users to deploy Windows Server 2008 R2 mirrors. This is somewhat similar to the VM-type application provided by Amazon's resilient cloud, but it is much more limited to--azure the complexity of the OS layer and helps developers focus on application development.

However, the current VM role of Azure cannot be maintained all the time, which means that data loss is a recurring problem. But community Marvell Preview will fix the problem this spring and add multiple features including Linux virtual machine support.
