New DVR Cloud storage set-top box officially launched

According to foreign media reports, the United States Cross-platform Media Center solution provider Boxee decided in the United States local time in Thursday at Wal-Mart entity stores formally to the new generation of DVR (Digital video recorder) features of the Set-top box sales, priced at 99 U.S. dollars. Consumers can also buy directly through the Boxee website. The biggest advantage of this product is that the user can use the Boxee cloud service to store the recorded TV program in the Boxee server.

It is reported that the new Boxee TV set-top box added DVR video function, users use Boxee cloud storage services monthly fee is 15 dollars. Boxee said that the first DVR cloud service users three months before the free use, after the monthly preferential price of 9.9 U.S. dollars. In addition, for new and old users, Boxee also gives three-month free Netflix network TV service, while giving Vudu video store users a gift certificate of 5.99 dollars per person.

The new Boxee TV canceled hundreds of old Boxee apps and replaced it with the current popular streaming video service in the US market, including Pandora, Spotify, Netflix, VUDU, the Wall Street Journal and Cloudee. For users who are unfamiliar with Boxee TV set-top boxes, the device operates in much the same way as the Apple TV and Roku streaming TV set-top boxes. In the early stages, Boxee TV's DVR cloud storage function applies only to several cities in the United States. Industry insiders believe that Boxee TV may be attractive to users who have not yet installed their cable TV. But for existing cable TV users, if they are looking for a replacement for a DVR device, Boxee equipment may not be a good choice. Boxee TV is unable to record pay-TV channels such as AMC and ESPN. But in any case, Boxee TV is a great device for watching Netflix and other streaming video programs.
