The VMware Vcloud Data Center service was first launched in August 2010 and is an enterprise-class public cloud based on the VMware cloud infrastructure, including VMware vsphere, VMware VShield, and VMware vcloud Director. Through VMware's certification, the service provider network provides unified management and security globally, with 25 data centers expected to be installed in 13 countries by the end of 2011. Today, VMware and its partners have launched Global Connect. This is an optional feature of the Vcloud Data Center service, enabling customers to use cloud services from multiple vendors across a variety of locations, just like a single virtual cloud. Bluelock, Singapore Telecom Limited (SingTel) and SoftBank Telecom (Softbank EADS) are expected to be the first providers of global Connect services.

For multinational customers who need High-performance (low-latency), efficient cloud computing in the countries in which they operate, Global Connect will provide them with a simpler way to deal with compliance with international data privacy, locality and confidentiality requirements. Customers will work directly with their local Vcloud data center service providers (service providers with Global Connect services worldwide), enabling customers to manage the "single virtual" across the cloud through a contract and with Vcloud Connector, To seamlessly use the services of related suppliers.

Fast and reliable transmission between private cloud and public cloud in VMware vcloud Connector 1.5–

Since its launch in February 2011, more than 1300 VMware customers have used VMware vcloud Connector to view, transport, and manage workloads between vsphere clusters, private clouds, and public clouds. Today, VMware unveiled Vcloud Connector 1.5, which uses a faster, newer and more reliable data transfer architecture, which will shorten the transfer time of the workload while automatically reconnecting and resuming the transmissions interrupted due to network problems. Vcloud Connector 1.5 will also be available through any compatible Web browser or plug-in as Vcenter console.

vcloud.vmware.com– Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Gateway

To help customers more easily extend their virtualized data centers to hybrid clouds, VMware today launched an online service node where businesses can look for vcloud service providers, understand their capabilities and coverage, and quickly try out new cloud services. Customers can then use Vcloud Connector 1.5 to set up a network client to quickly and easily transfer workloads and data to these cloud services.

Cloud-based disaster recovery with vcenter Site Recovery Manager 5

Today, 4 VMware service provider Partners announced plans to launch a new cloud-based disaster recovery service based on the vcenter Site Recovery Manager 5, released on July 12, 2011. Fusionstorm, hosting.com, Iland and VeriStor are expected to be the first providers of these services. These services allow organizations of all sizes to failover to the service provider's site in the event of a disaster, enabling them to protect their applications in a simple and cost-effective manner. These cloud-based services will be sold in paid mode, eliminating the high cost associated with establishing a dedicated failover site.

When a disaster occurs, or the customer wants a recovery test, vcenter site Recovery Manager 5 will automate the entire failover process and manage it, and automatically failback to the customer's site once the customer is ready to resume operation. This is accomplished through the new features of the VMware vsphere replication in vcenter Site Recovery Manager 5. VMware vsphere Replication is the industry's first hypervisor-based replication product that can be replicated across sites independently of the underlying storage array. This eliminates the need for the same site environment for the primary site and the recovery site, simplifying data replication between the customer data center and the public cloud.
