Samsung App Store will be renamed Samsung Galaxy Apps

Netease Technology News July 14, according to US media reports, Samsung Electronics updated and renamed its own app store, apparently compete with Google Play store Android application revenue. Samsung said the new Samsung Galaxy App store has "Thousands of Apps" exclusively available to Galaxy device users. The store's original name was Samsung Apps.

The revised app store will bring higher customization services to mobile devices as well as offer users various promotions and discounts. The new store has been revamped with a user interface that divides apps into three broad categories: Top Apps, Leaderboards and Galaxy Dedicated. Preferred Applications Recommend apps and promotions to users, with charts showing the most popular apps selected by popularity, date, and price.

Galaxy Dedicated is divided into four sections. The Galaxy Gifts section shows advanced apps designed for Galaxy devices, while the Galaxy Essentials section shows Essential Apps. The third part, Apps for Professionals, is described as "The home of enterprise applications and other services that take full advantage of Galaxy device capabilities." The Galaxy Specials section lets users download applications made using the Samsung SDK (Software Development Kit).

Samsung is a leading maker of smartphones and tablets based on the Google Android system, which Samsung said in 2013 accounted for 39.5% of the smartphone market. Recently Google announced the next generation Android L will integrate Samsung's Knox security software. However, Samsung is also trying to stay away from Google, using the Tizen system on Gear2 smartwatches and Z smartphones, and plans to launch the system's TVs next year.
